Sairam Matriculation Higher Secondary School has been established on 13th of June 2008 with the aim of providing quality education to the younger generation in the Semi – Urban areas of Thiruthuraipoondi. The school is situated next to the Thiruthuraipoondi, Bus (stand) Terminus on the Thiruvarur to the Thiruthuraipoondi Main Road.

The school is started with Pre Kg, LKG, UKG and standards I to VIII. This will be followed by the addition of one higher class every subsequent year. This school is now upgraded to Higher secondary during the academic year (2011 – 12). It has now classes from PreKG to XI std..

The school is managed by Leo Muthu Educational Trust which is headed by renowned educationalist and industrialist MJF. Ln. Leo.Muthu. He is a doyen in the field of education with more than two decades of rich experience and he is the Chairman; Sairam Group of Educational, Institutions, Chennai.

The school is started with 388 students with the blessings of His holiness Shiridi Sai Baba with the aim of imparting sound, all – round education, with special emphasis on the character building of students. It received overwhelming response from the parents of Thiruthurapoondi and the surrounding areas. In its second academic year (2009 – 2010), the students strength raised to 1013. At present 1421 students are studying in this school. During the academic year 2010 – 11, First batch of X std students are appeared for the public examination. The school is functioning in its own building. It has spacious and well – ventilated class rooms, well – equipped laboratories and computer facilities. Physical education also occupies a place of pride in school curriculum. It has a vast play ground to nurture the sporting talent.
