About Institution

Karunya Niketan School for the Deaf is an aided special school for the deaf and consequent communication disorders.

We provide education and services to individuals of complex communication difficulties caused due to complete or partial hearing inability. We strive to serve those whose needs cannot be met in their local environment. We work towards promoting their mental and intellectual development by encouraging and providing healthy arenas for their better participation in the society.

At our campus, we have provided an array of deafness related services to our pupils. A team of well trained faculty specialised in coaching the hearing impaired and communication disorderd, give expert and individual attention to each student. We use the best available modern equipments to teach our students. Our classes are specially arranged to facilitate better comprehension by the students.

An active Rehabilitation Center in the our campus works towards controversialing deaf related issues and finding solutions to their problems. It conducts various programs to spread social awareness about deaf related issues, and tries to resolve the social and other problems faced by the deaf.

Karunya Niketan School for the Deaf, has been operating since 1992 under the Ta'aleemul Islam Trust at the Wadissalam Complex, Vilayancode. The school was recognized by the Govt. of Kerala in 1993 and was aided in 1994. Under the supervision of Souda. P, Principal, Karunya Niketan, the school has been providing invaluable services to the society since more than two decades.

We give education to more than 100 deaf students in the district, with individual care and attention. We look forward to building individuals of impact in the society by providing them high quality and moral education. Apart from special education, we also engage in social programs relating to deaf such as spreading awareness and rehabilitation of the physically challenged.

With the limited funds available, we have tried to provide our students, a sufficiently equipped resource room and laboratory to ensure better education. Our staff are specially trained in deaf education. We try to build up confidence in our students by promoting social interaction and developing their skills and talents.
